description:
Tender sedge with slender 3-sided stems. Terminal corymbs with spikelets bearing small brown flowers and leaf-like bracts.


cultivation:
Damp soil or as a warm weather pond marginal in shallow water up to 30cm deep, in full sun or part shade. Not hardy and needs a warm position. Can be grown under glass, in a container standing in water.
Cut back dead material in late autumn.

propagation:
From seed or by division.

other notes:
Originally from Mexico but naturalized in other tropical and sub-tropical areas, sometimes becoming invasive.
