Prostrate or semi-prostrate form with arching or trailing green stems, small leaves and golden yellow flowers in late spring.
Well drained soil in full sun. Thrives in poor acid soils, lime-tolerant but dislikes shallow chalky soil.
Resents disturbance and best planted when small.

Native to Western Europe, including the British Isles. Found on exposed sea cliffs, which may largely account for its habit.
