Rhizomatous perennial suitable for the edges of ponds or streams. Spring flowerheads are held on sturdy stems rising from the bare ground, followed by rounded umbrella shaped peltate leaves which colour to red in autumn.
In ideal growing conditions it can spread and become a little invasive.
Must have constantly moist soil. Grows well at the edge of water or in boggy soil.
Bog gardens, water-side plantings.
In its native Western USA, the leaf stalks were peeled ant eaten by the American Indians.
