Robust biennial or short-lived perennial, forming basal rosettes of oblong to lance-shaped, dark green leaves, sometimes hairy underneath, up to 20cm long. Produces tall spikes of smallish, golden bronze-brown flowers with red-brown veins inside, in summer.
Any well drained dryish soil in full sun or part shade
Found wild in Southeastern Europe, Turkey, Caucasus and Lebanon.
