description:
Cushion-forming alpine with dense rosettes of softly-hairy, grey-green leaves, white or creamy felted underneath and with curled back edges. Numerous stemless, scented, bright yellow flowers in early spring.

cultivation:
Very sharply drained, gritty soil or on tufa. Protect from excessive wet, keeping top growth dry. Use a grit layer below the foliage and water from below if possible. Probably best grown in an alpine house. Provide good light and ventilation.

propagation:
From seed or single rosettes as cuttings.

usage:
Alpine gardens, troughs or containers.

other notes:
Found on mountain cliffs of Northern Iran.
