Cushion-forming alpine with dense rosettes of softly-hairy, grey-green leaves, white or creamy felted underneath and with curled back edges. Numerous stemless, scented, bright yellow flowers in early spring.

Very sharply drained, gritty soil or on tufa. Protect from excessive wet, keeping top growth dry. Use a grit layer below the foliage and water from below if possible. Probably best grown in an alpine house. Provide good light and ventilation.

From seed or single rosettes as cuttings.

Alpine gardens, troughs or containers.
