description:
Nearly evergreen, producing a shuttlecock shaped clump of 2-pinnate or pinnatisect fronds. They are pale green when unfurling in spring, contrasting with the scaly, golden brown midribs, then ageing to darker green and often lasting well through the winter. Each pinna has a dark spot where it joins the midrib.

cultivation:
Humus-rich, moist, well drained soil in part shade. Best in a sheltered position but more tolerant of sun and wind than other species.
