Attractive heart-shaped leaves, deep bronze-purple when young, maturing to green. Lilac-pinkish flowers in spring. Deciduous or semi-evergreen.
Likes a woodland type situation. Best in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well drained soil and partial shade. Benefits from mulching with leaf-mould or similar. Remove old leaves in late winter before new growth starts.
There appears to be some confusion over this cultivar name as Epimedium x youngianum 'Lilacinium' is sometimes given as a synonym for Epimedium x youngianum 'Roseum'.
