Spreading evergreen tree. Smooth grey, white and brown trunk with peeling bark. Young twigs are covered with a waxy-white bloom. Heart-shaped, pale silvery-blue juvenile leaves which persist on mature trees.

Most Eucalypts will tolerate a fairly wide range of soil types including quite poor ones. Most will grow in acid to moderately alkaline soils (PH 4.5 to 7.5). They are shallow rooting and young trees do not like competition from grass and weeds. It is best to plant when the trees are still very small (45cm) or use specially prepared stock
