Very compact, rounded bushy habit with very dark greenish purple foliage. Flowering heads with yellow-green bracts in spring.

Prefers moist soil in full sun or light shade but tolerates dry conditions.
Cut back old flower heads to ground level in summer or autumn, to encourage new growth.

By division in early spring or basal cuttings in spring and summer. Dip cuttings in lukewarm water or powdered charcoal to prevent the sap bleeding.
