description:
Evergreen perennial of spreading habit with underground rhizomes. Good ground cover with glossy dark green, closely set leaves and heads of greenish yellow flowers in spring. Tolerant of difficult dry shaded conditions.
Similar in appearance to the species, but has no hairs on the leaf undersides.

cultivation:
Best in moist, humus-rich soil in light dappled shade, but tolerant of a range of conditions. Needs little attention. Cut back untidy/straggly stems and flowerheads. Mulch in autumn and spring. Does not divide successfully.
