Subshrub with branching, thick succulent stems topped by rosettes of glaucous blue-green leaves. The tiny flowers have conspicuous dark purple-red bracts. Flowers in late winter and spring and is followed by reddish seed capsules.
Well drained, dryish, rocky soil in sun. Drought tolerant. Needs a warm position and is not frost hardy.
Should be kept fairy dry in winter.
