Bold blue-green foliage, large heads of greenish yellow flowers with dark brown glands at the centres. Each unbranched stem is biennial, flowering in the second year.
Light, well drained soil in full sun. Thrives in dry conditions. Tends to be fairly short lived, particularly in moist conditions, but often self seeds.
From seed or by cuttings.
Native to the Mediterranean area, occasionally naturalised elsewhere as a result of garden escapes.
