Bushy deciduous shrub with opposite, toothed, lance-shaped or occasionally 3-lobed leaves. Profuse, four-petalled, bright yellow flowers in the spring on bare shoots before the leaves emerge.
Any moderately fertile, moist, well drained soil in full sun or light dappled shade. Easy to grow and not fussy. Prune after flowering, reducing new shoots and cut back some of the old shoots to the base.
Greenwood cuttings in late spring or semi-ripe cuttings in late summer.
Classic plant for spring colour. May be grown as a hedge or trained against fences and walls.
Garden hybrid of Forsythia suspensa x Forsythia viridissima.
