description:
Trailing shrub with small rounded leaves on slender, wiry stems. Small, upward-facing flowers are produced in July, pale orange-yellow with four reflexed petals shaded purple and green and blue-violet anthers. Quite large red fruits develop later.

cultivation:
Well drained soil in sun or part shade. Just about hardy but needs in a mild location and can be damaged by late frosts.

propagation:
From seed or by cuttings.

Native to the North Island of New Zealand, growing on rocky areas by the coast.
