Spreading shrub with arching stems of small three-palmate, mid-green leaves. Clusters of fragrant, clear bright yellow flowers in spring and in mild locations, sometimes in winter.

Well drained soil in full sun. Thrives in poor acid soils, lime-tolerant but dislikes shallow chalky soil.
Resents disturbance and best planted when small.
