description:
Compact, spreading slowly by underground rhizomes to make dense cushions. Nearly evergreen, small, deeply lobed, aromatic leaves, often with good autumn tints. Numerous, rounded, mauve-pink flowers in summer.

cultivation:
Moderately fertile, well drained soil in sun or light shade. Easy to grow. Cut back after flowering to encourage new growth and sometimes repeat flowering.

By seed or division.

usage:
Good for rock and gravel gardens or the front of sunny borders.
