Clump forming perennial of loosely erect habit. Quite large, deeply-cut palmately-lobed, mid to dark green leaves, up to 15cm across. Pinkish-lilac flowers, paler at the centres, in late spring and early summer, followed by beaked seed capsules..

Moderately fertile, well drained soil in sun or part shade. Thrives in light woodland conditions.
Cut back after flowering to encourage new growth and sometimes repeat flowering.

By seed or division.

Borders, wild and woodland gardens.
