poisonous or irritant
moist soil, sandy soil
preferred soil pH: neutral-acid
minimum temp: -4°C
USDA zone: 8 to 10
Dwarf form, short growing and sturdy habit. Narrow sword shaped leaves. Neat spikes of soft pink flowers with reddish shading and markings at the petal edges.
Fertile, well drained soil, a sandy loam with a Ph of 6 to 6.5 is ideal. Needs full sun but adequate moisture to flower well.
Corms should be planted in spring, 10 to 16cm deep. A layer of sharp sand below the corms is helpful to improve drainage in wet soils.
In frost-prone areas, lift and dry the corms for storage over winter.
Borders, cut flower.
