Rhizomatous perennial with erect stems and sessile, narrowly lanceolate, toothed leaves. Small creamy white flowers held on stalks emerging from the leaf axils in summer.
Moist to wet, fertile soil that does not dry out. Full sun or part shade.
From seed, by division or from cuttings.
Bog gardens, pond marginal
Once used as a medicinal herb, though rarely nowadays as it also also considered toxic.
Native to central and southern Europe through to western Asia, normally found in damp places
