Large spreading shrub, often multi-stemmed and tending to sucker. Obovate, mid-green leaves which turn butter-yellow in autumn. Very small, but abundantly produced, heavily scented flowers in late winter and early spring on bare shoots. They are generally pale orange but may be yellow or red.

Best in moist, fertile, acid to neutral soil in sun or part shade. More tolerant of slightly chalky and heavy soils than other Witch Hazel species.
Prune if required, by removing dead or unwanted branches in late winter/early spring.
