Vigorous spreading habit. Large, softly hairy leaves which turn orange-red in autumn. Dense clusters of large, spidery, copper-orange flowers held on the bare winter branches.
Best in moist, fertile, acid to neutral soil in sun or part shade. Dislikes dry soils. Benefits from a site sheltered from strong winds.
Prune if required, by removing dead or unwanted branches in late winter/early spring.
Raised at Kalmhout Arboretum, Belgium and named after Jelena de Belder. AGM 1984.
