description:
Vigorous, tender, evergreen, twining climber with alternate, narrow, leathery green leaves, up to 12cm long. Dense pendent racemes of pea-like, mauve-purple flowers abundantly produced from late winter to early summer.

cultivation:
Needs a warm climate, otherwise best grown in a conservatory. May survive occasional short periods down to -4°C. Moist, well drained, lime-free soil, in full sun or part shade.
