description:
Clump forming with fleshy rhizomes. Exotic looking lance shaped glossy leaves. Compact spikes of fragrant yellow-orange flowers in late summer. The spikes are up to about 15cm longs and freely produced.

cultivation:
One of the hardiest species but still somewhat tender and best in a sheltered position. Moist soil in sun or part shade. Grows well in the warmer parts of the UK. Provide a generous winter mulch in cool areas.
