Nearly evergreen foliage on upright and sometimes branching stems, with new leaves being produced after flowering. Beautiful nodding, cup shaped flower which are very variable in colour, usually white, pink or purple but there are some yellowish forms. Flowering may be from mid-winter to mid-spring.
Neutral to alkaline, humus rich soil in sun or part shade. Quite tolerant of various conditions.
From seed or by division, preferably in early autumn.
