Clump forming perennial producing nodding bowl-shaped flowers in a range of subtle colours including creamy yellows, dusky pinks, red and dark purple. They are often spotted inside and have yellow stamens. Leathery dark green, divided leaves, usually evergreen. Late winter to early spring flowering.

Moist but well drained, preferably neutral to alkaline soil in dappled shade.

By division. May self seed, but unlikely to come true.

Borders and woodland gardens, for winter and early spring interest.
