Small semi-evergreen dome of rounded 3-lobed leaves, silkily hairy and tinted purple underneath. Flower appear in early spring before the leaves fully develop, varying in colour from white, pink, blue or bluish-purple.

cultivation:
Moist, well-drained, humus-rich neutral to alkaline soil in part-shade. Resents transplanting once established. Mulch with leaf-mould in autumn.
