Half-hardy perennial, usually grown as an annual. Glaucous blue-green leaves deeply divided into three linear lobes. Poppy-like, clear yellow flowers with deeper stamens, from midsummer to autumn.
Well drained, moderately fertile soil in full sun. Dislikes winter wet and root disturbance once established. Mostly grown as an annual, particularly in cold areas.
Closely related to Eschscholzia.
