Large upright deciduous shrub with sturdy shoots covered by moss-like bristles and hairs. Very large, lance-shaped, velvety-hairy, deep green leaves. Large flattened flowerheads of mauve to lilac-blue fertile flowers, surrounded by white or purple tinged sterile flowers, produced from late summer to autumn.
Needs partial shade and protection from strong winds..
