description:
Vigorous Hortensia type making a large bushy shrub. Large mopheads of deep pink to sky blue flowers in midsummer, fading with age to pale lavender.

cultivation:
Moist, well drained, reasonably fertile, humus-rich soil. Sun or part shade, preferably with shelter from cold, drying winds. May become chlorotic on very shallow chalky soil. Performs well in seaside locations.
The flower colour is influenced by the soil pH; acid soil, with a pH of less than 5.5, will generally produce blue flowers. A pH above this tends to produce pink flowers, or in some cases neutral soils result in off-white flowerheads.
