description:
Lacecap flowers of pale blue surrounded by large white sterile florets, produced from midsummer.

cultivation:
Moist, well drained, reasonably fertile, humus-rich soil. Sun or part shade, preferably with shelter from cold, drying winds. Thrives best in seaside and sheltered gardens. May become chlorotic on very shallow chalky soil.
The flower colour is influenced by the soil pH; acid soil, with a pH of less than 5.5, will generally produce blue flowers. A pH above this tends to produce pink flowers, or in some cases neutral soils result in off-white flowerheads.
