description:
Bulbous perennial forming clumps of grass-like, narrowly linear, bright green leaves, emerging in autumn. Solitary, upward-facing, star-shaped flowers of pale silvery violet-blue often with darker midribs, produced mainly in spring. The flowers are honey-scented and the foliage smells of onions when crushed.

Moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist, well drained soil in full sun. Although hardy, may be damaged by long periods of hard frost.
