Succulent alpine forming tight hummocks with rosettes of broad, sharply pointed, plummy-pinkish brown leaves edged green. Relatively vigorous grower. Rosettes slowly divide rather than produce offsets.

Full sun and on poor, sharply drained soils. Drought tolerant and may be rooted into small rock crevices and stone walls.

Cut apart and replant divided rosettes. Slower and more difficult to propagate than common house-leeks.

Alpine gardens, sinks and other containers.

other notes:
Closely related and similar to Sempervivums.
Raised by Cornelis Versteeg, Netherlands, 1988.
