description:
Succulent alpine forming tight hummocks with rosettes of broad, sharply pointed, plummy-pinkish brown leaves edged green. Relatively vigorous grower. Rosettes slowly divide rather than produce offsets.

cultivation:
Full sun and on poor, sharply drained soils. Drought tolerant and may be rooted into small rock crevices and stone walls.

propagation:
Cut apart and replant divided rosettes. Slower and more difficult to propagate than common house-leeks.

usage:
Alpine gardens, sinks and other containers.

other notes:
Closely related and similar to Sempervivums.
