Small clump-forming alpine with narrow felty-hairy, grey-green leaves. Upright stems of yellowish-white flowerheads surrounded by star-shaped felty greyish white bracts, in spring or early summer.

Sharply drained, gritty, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun. Ovoid excessive winter wet.

From seed or by division in early spring. Divisions can be slow to establish.

Rock gardens, alpine house.
