Dwarf, very compact shrub with tiny, aromatic, dark green leaves, maroon-bronze tinged when young. Masses of single pink and red flowers opening from red buds in spring.

Moderately fertile, well drained neutral or acid soil in full sun or partial shade. Not very hardy and only suitable for growing outdoors in mild areas. Thrives in dry Mediterranean conditions. May be grown in a container and overwintered in a greenhouse.

Suitable for rock gardens.
