description:
Vigorous tall growing tree. The bold leaves have a distinctive lobed, truncated shape and turn yellow in autumn. Tulip shaped greenish white flowers in mid-summer followed by cone-like fruits, green at first ripening to brown by September. Fast growing, reaching about 12m in 20 years.

cultivation:
Prefers a fertile, well drained, slightly acid soil, in sun or part shade. Grows to about 4m. or more in 10 years.
Will not flower until it is about 15 years old and 7.5m high.

propagation:
By seed, which germinates quite easily. Also from cuttings.

usage:
Very fine parkland tree.
