Magnificent evergreen , generally grown as a wall shrub but also making a magnificent free-standing large shrub or short stemmed tree. Leaves are leathery, glossy on top and often reddish-brown underneath. Large, waxy-white, scented flowers are produced throughout summer and in to early autumn.

Reasonably fertile soil in full sun or a little shade. Will tolerate dry alkaline conditions if soil is deep and loamy. Benefits from some shelter and often grown as a wall shrub.
If required, lightly prune back unwanted shoots in spring. For wall trained plants, cut back to within about 2 to 4 buds of the permanent framework, after flowering or in early spring.

From seed. Also by layering.
