Cream, perfumed, flower plumes are produced in late spring, even in quite shady conditions such as under trees. Clump forming, bold foliage on arching stems. Red berries are occasionally produced.
Like deep, rich , moist but well drained soil. Neutral to acid. Shady position.
From seed or division in early spring.
The fruits are edible, with a treacle like flavour.
Native of the North American woodlands.
