Small deciduous tree of neat, broadly conical habit with oval, occasionally lobed, deep green leaves. Freely produced white flowers opening from red buds in late spring, followed by orange-yellow fruits becoming strongly red flushed as they ripen, about 2.5cm across.

Any reasonable, well drained soil in sun. Should attain a size of about 5m by 4m in 20 years.

Suitable for small gardens.
The fruit is edible and good for making preserves.
