Half-hardy perennial climber or trailer, often treated as an annual. Lobed bright green leaves and snapdragon-like violet-purple flowers with lime-green bracts, freely produced in summer on arching and trailing stems.

Moist, fertile, well-drained soil in sun or part shade. Needs warm conditions, can be grown in a container and moved to a frost-free position in winter.
May need encouragement and support to climb, or allow to trail over the edge of containers or raised beds.
