description:
Small bulbous perennial with very long narrow dark-green leaves, glaucous on the upper surface, often lying coiling on the ground. Dense heads of small bell-shaped, bright sky-blue flowers in March and April.

cultivation:
Moderately fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Lift and divide clumps when dormant in summer, if they become congested.

propagation:
By seed or separation and replanting of bulb offsets. Large bulbs can also be split into four (scaling), for growing on.

other notes:
Native to Iran, found in rock areas, stony banks and light woodland.
