Vigorous, spreading, clump forming perennial. Square sectioned stems of aromatic, toothed, deep-green to grey-green leaves. Spike-like, loosely whorled cymes of distinctively large, violet-blue flowers throughout summer.
Any well drained soil in full sun or light shade. Drought tolerant and very cold hardy.
Trim after flowering to keep compact, may produce a second flush of flowers.
May become slightly invasive if grown on rich, moist soils.
By division or softwood cuttings.
Borders and cottage garden plantings.
Attractive to insects.
