description:
Woody-based perennial with wiry, red-purple stems and small ovate-elliptic dark green leaves, flushed purple when young and in winter. Panicles of deep pink flowers with darker purple calyces and red-purple bracts, produced from late spring through to autumn. The flowers and their bracts are slightly larger than the species.

cultivation:
Best in well drained, poorish soil, preferably alkaline, in full sun. Drought tolerant.

usage:
Very attractive to butterflies and hoverflies.
