description:
Small, evergreen subshrub with slender, wiry branches bearing ovate, downy grey leaves, just 5mm long. Loose whorls of small tubular flowers in summer, pink to purple with purple bracts.

cultivation:
Very well drained, poor, alkaline soil in full sun. Dislikes wet conditions, especially in winter but may be grown in an alpine house. Cut back old stems in spring.

propagation:
From seed or basal cuttings.

usage:
Rock or scree garden or containers.
