Tiny bulbs send up grass-like foliage, which opens to leaves divided into three linear to wedge-shaped, mid-green leaflets, and numerous tightly folded tubular buds which open to swirly red and white cone shaped flowers. Dormant between May and September.

Moderately fertile, humus rich, moist, well drained soil in sun or part shade. Not hardy.

Suitable for growing in a frost free alpine house.
