Evergreen groundcover spreading by rhizomes to create a low, dense mass of waxy, deep green foliage. Small spikes of tiny, creamy white, slightly fragrant flowers are borne in early summer. Indefinite spread.
More compact with neat, uniform growth, darker colour and reputed to be hardier than the species.
Moist, well drained, humus-rich soil in full or part shade. Drought tolerant.
By division in spring or softwood cuttings in early summer.
