Medium sized deciduous shrub of compact well branched habit with palmately lobed leaves that are amber orange when young, then maturing to deep burgundy maroon. Pink-tinged white flowerheads in early summer. Reddish fruits later.
Grows in most soil types, in full sun or slight shade, but leaf colour is best in sun. Very hardy and resistant to powdery mildew.
Prune in early spring to shape and rejuvinate foliage. Stems can be cut back by about a third, or leave some unpruned to obtain flowers.
From cuttings taken in summer.
