description:
Lovely medium to large sized tree with distinctive foliage. Broadly conical at first but ultimately developing a domed crown. The green or greyish-green needles are very long, up to 30cm, and held in groups of 5 or occasionally more. Deeply fissured, grey-brown bark, orange-brown on younger branches. Yellowish-brown female cones up to 20cm long.

cultivation:
Not very hardy and best in a reasonably sheltered position.

propagation:
By seed.

usage:
Striking specimen tree for mild locations.
