description:
Large growing conifer, dense conical shape when young, later losing the lower branches and becoming tall and broad headed. Dark blueish green needles arranged in pairs. Pale yellow male flowers and purplish females which develop to small brown cones. The young bark of the main trunk and branches is a distinctive red-brown or orange.

Well drained soil and sun or part shade. Reaches about 6m. in 10 years.

usage:
Important timber tree.
