A hybrid making a large conical shrub with oval grey-green leaves margined with creamy-white. The foliage may become tinged and spotted pink or red during winter. Small, fragrant, very dark purple flowers in spring.
Well drained soil in a sunny position. Dislikes wet soil and cold winds, so best given some protection unless grown in a mild climate. May make new growth if cut back by frost.
From semi-hardwood cuttings
Can be used for hedging in mild locations.
Probably a hybrid of Pittosporum ralphii x Pittosporum tenuifolium, found at Buxton’s Nursery, Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand. Named after Arthur Garnett, who discovered it.
