Vigorous, upright deciduous tree with distinctively flaking, brown, grey and cream bark. Maple-like bright green palmately lobed leaves. Clusters of persistent round fruits, green ageing to brown, in autumn and winter. Inconspicuous flowers.

Well drained soil in full sun. Pollution tolerant and thrives in urban conditions.

From hardwood cuttings in winter. Also by separation of suckers if produced.

Traditional street tree.
